Finance Manager – Hybrid, San José, Costa Rica

About the role

We are looking for a Finance Manager to lead all finance functions for our Costa Rica operations. The role will be hybrid, based in San José, and will report to the US‑based CFO. You will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, compliance, and the modernization of our finance systems.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close process and deliver timely reports to the CFO and leadership team.
• Manage day‑to‑day finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, payroll oversight, cash management, reconciliations and general ledger activities.
• Lead the migration from QuickBooks to Foundations, ensuring data integrity and adoption of best practices.
• Develop, implement and formalize accounting policies, financial controls and scalable finance processes.
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with NIIF (IFRS), local regulations and corporate reporting standards.
• Handle Costa Rican tax compliance, including corporate income tax, IVA filings, payroll remittances, CCSS contributions and statutory reporting.
• Partner with HR and operational leaders on payroll accuracy, workforce cost tracking, budgeting, forecasting and headcount planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least 2 years in a controller or senior accounting leadership role.
• Full professional fluency in English and Spanish.
• Demonstrated experience managing full‑cycle accounting operations and leading ERP/accounting system implementations.
• Strong knowledge of NIIF (IFRS) and Costa Rican tax regulations.
