Facilities Manager – Alajuela, Costa Rica

About the role

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Facilities Manager for its site in Coyol, Alajuela, Costa Rica. The role ensures a safe, clean, compliant and well‑maintained workplace for employees, visitors and business operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day facilities operations including maintenance, work orders, security, janitorial services, landscaping, parking, waste management and general workplace support.
• Lead, supervise and develop facilities staff, contractors and service providers such as janitorial, security and maintenance teams.
• Oversee building systems – HVAC, electrical, plumbing, alarms, laboratory and clean‑room infrastructure – and associated preventive maintenance programs.
• Conduct inspections, audits and preventive maintenance to identify issues, safety hazards and improvement opportunities.
• Manage vendor relationships, service agreements, performance metrics and ensure timely work‑order completion.
• Plan and execute site projects including renovations, expansions, repairs and upgrades in partnership with project managers and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, fire codes, safety regulations, environmental requirements and emergency preparedness protocols.
• Support budgeting for OPEX and CAPEX, space planning activities and development of facilities policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in facilities management, engineering or related field.
• 6‑8 years of facilities management experience, including laboratory or clean‑room environments; people‑management experience preferred.
• Strong vendor management, contract negotiation and project execution skills.
• Knowledge of building codes, fire codes, safety regulations, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 (preferred).
• Excellent leadership, communication and organizational abilities with the capacity to make independent operational decisions.
• Financial acumen for budget management and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
