CAD Electrical Engineer

About the role

The CAD Electrical Engineer will support the Equipment Build Manufacturing team in designing, specifying, and continuously improving automated and semi‑automated machines used for production and testing. Working in a fast‑paced, high‑expectation manufacturing environment, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver safe, reliable, and well‑documented electrical control systems.

Key responsibilities

• Define acceptance‑testing requirements together with Design Engineering and Manufacturing Test Engineering.
• Create clear panel layouts and wiring diagrams following industry safety standards such as NFPA 79.
• Select appropriate electrical hardware and correctly size wires and components.
• Map network and communication links for automated and semi‑automated equipment.
• Maintain up‑to‑date electrical schematics, one‑line diagrams, wire‑harness drawings, and complete BOMs (parts and spares).
• Drive continuous improvement on deployed, qualified automated machines.
• Update final drawings to reflect as‑built changes, adhering to drafting standards like ASME Y14.5.
• Support design reviews to ensure electrical designs are buildable, testable, and maintainable in compliance with internal requirements.
• Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, Software, Systems, Production, and Quality Engineering teams.
• Assist with lifecycle changes, release of electrical documentation, and provide administrative support to the Equipment Build Manufacturing team as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field.
• Solid knowledge of electrical controls, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams to industry safety standards (e.g., NFPA 79).
• Experience selecting electrical hardware and correctly sizing wires and components.
• Experience mapping network and communication links for automated equipment.
• Experience maintaining electrical schematics, one‑line diagrams, wire‑harness drawings, and BOMs.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• AutoCAD Electrical (desired).
• SolidWorks (desired).
• Familiarity with NFPA 79 safety standards.
• Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 drafting standards.
• Electrical controls design and documentation.
