Backend Software Engineer – Internet Services Simulation

About the role

SimSpace is looking for a Backend Software Engineer to design, deploy, and operate the simulated internet services layer of its cyber‑range platform. You will create a realistic, application‑level internet environment that red and blue teams can interact with during training and testing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and automate deployment of a persistent catalog of simulated internet services (e.g., fake GitHub, social media, webmail).
• Integrate real SaaS applications such as AWS, GCP, and Azure into the simulation environment.
• Build and maintain DNS and email infrastructure that mimics production behavior.
• Generate realistic content and custom services to approximate major internet properties.
• Collaborate with network simulation teams to ensure seamless routing, latency, and service interaction.

Required profile

• Strong problem‑solving mindset with a passion for building large‑scale simulation platforms.
• Experience working in fast‑paced, security‑focused environments.
• Ability to work independently and contribute to cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• DNS configuration and management
• Email infrastructure (SMTP, IMAP/POP)
