Application Support Engineer

About the role

The Application Support Engineer provides day‑to‑day production and application support for Credit Risk and Market Risk systems. You will work closely with development, infrastructure, database and business teams to ensure stable, reliable operation of critical financial applications.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, application errors and data‑related issues.
• Use SQL to analyse data, validate information and resolve database problems.
• Review Linux environments, system logs and application logs to identify root causes.
• Create and maintain scripts to automate recurring support and operational activities.
• Support application deployments, releases and other production changes.
• Manage incidents and problems following ITIL Incident, Problem and Change Management processes.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and support runbooks.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to drive issues through resolution and improve production stability.

Required profile

• 5+ years of IT experience in application or production support.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in financial services, especially credit risk or market risk, is highly desirable.

Required skills

• SQL (query writing and troubleshooting).
• Linux operating systems and log analysis.
• Scripting languages: Python, PowerShell, Shell/Bash.
• ServiceNow and ITIL‑based support processes.
• Jira and Confluence.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and release management.
