System Administrator (Unix & Windows)

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Unix & Wintel Systems Administrator to manage and optimise both Linux/Unix and Windows server environments across on‑premise and cloud platforms. The role is hybrid, with two days per week on site in Costa Rica, and includes occasional on‑call rotation.

Key responsibilities

• Configure, maintain and support Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and related services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policies.
• Install, configure and manage Unix/Linux servers (Red Hat, Ubuntu, Rocky, AIX) and monitor system performance.
• Apply patches, updates and security fixes across all environments.
• Implement backup, disaster recovery and virtualization solutions using VMware and Hyper‑V, including ESXi host and vCenter administration.
• Develop automation scripts in Bash, PowerShell or Python.
• Support cloud workloads on AWS and Azure and work with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Utilise monitoring tools like Nagios and Dynatrace for issue detection and root‑cause analysis.
• Maintain documentation, incident records and compliance reports while collaborating with cybersecurity and cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in Unix and Windows system administration.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and documentation abilities.
