Storage & Backup Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Engineer to design, operate, and continuously improve enterprise storage and data protection platforms across a hybrid environment. The role focuses on Commvault backup & recovery, IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS/ESS), Linux engineering with scripting/automation, and operational support for block storage platforms such as Pure Storage, Dell EMC Unity, and Dell PowerStore. You will work closely with Infrastructure, Cloud, Security, and Application teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure storage services.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and support enterprise Commvault environments, including CommServe, MediaAgents, policies, schedules, retention, and reporting.
• Monitor backup operations, troubleshoot failures, and improve performance and throughput.
• Engineer backup and restore strategies to meet RPO/RTO, compliance, and cyber‑resilience requirements, including routine restore validations and DR test support.
• Implement operational governance such as runbooks, KPIs, alerting, and change management.
• Support and maintain IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS/ESS) clusters, including health monitoring, capacity planning, performance tuning, patching, and incident triage.
• Execute scaling, upgrade, and resiliency procedures for Spectrum Scale environments.
• Develop automation scripts (Bash/Python) for provisioning, validation, reporting, backups, and lifecycle tasks, and integrate them with enterprise tooling.
• Create and maintain high‑quality documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles.
• Provide engineering support and operational oversight for block storage platforms (Pure Storage, Dell EMC Unity, Dell PowerStore), handling capacity, performance, incident response, and lifecycle coordination.
• Support storage connectivity concepts such as multipathing, iSCSI, and Fibre Channel, and collaborate with network and compute teams for issue resolution.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and drive improvements to reduce repeat incidents.
• Partner with application and platform teams to onboard workloads, define protection policies, and ensure recoverability.

Required profile
