Spanish Teacher - Secondary

About the role

Blue Valley School, a private international school in San Jose, Costa Rica, is looking for a Spanish Teacher to deliver engaging Spanish language and literacy instruction to Secondary students. The school serves students from Early Learning through Secondary and is part of Inspired Education Group, which runs 121 private schools across six continents.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons that inspire and challenge all students, following the school's curriculum, policies and external assessment requirements, and individualise and differentiate learning.
• Assess students' in-class and at-home learning regularly and give targeted feedback to drive progress.
• Create a classroom and school environment where students feel valued, supported and ready to take risks in their learning.
• Work with colleagues as an active member of the learning community, sharing best practice and supporting your own professional development.
• Take part in the school's co-curricular programme, from leading clubs to contributing to whole-school initiatives.
• Maintain open, constructive communication with parents to build strong partnerships for each student's progress.

Required profile

• A BA or equivalent with excellent academic credentials, ideally with evidence of post-graduate study.
• Proven track record of excellence in personal, academic and professional achievements.
• In-depth expertise in Spanish and the ability to inspire students and support outstanding progress.
• Experience in pastoral care and promoting student wellbeing, with a focus on individual attention.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and independently, and to build strong relationships with families.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.

Required skills

• Assessment of student progress and provision of targeted feedback, including in external assessments.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills, able to plan and prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines.
