Learning & Development Manager

About the role

The Learning & Development Lead develops and executes a learning strategy that enables safe, efficient and scalable operations, focusing on technical capability, leadership effectiveness and compliance across operational leadership roles. The role oversees training systems, certification and licensing processes and audit readiness, leads a team of trainers and learning professionals, and acts as a trusted partner to site and regional leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an end-to-end learning strategy, conduct training needs analyses and support workforce planning, succession and career pathways
• Design, deliver and evaluate technical, operational, safety, compliance and leadership training, including blended learning and certification pathways
• Ensure training materials and records meet health and safety and regulatory requirements, and oversee the LMS, training matrices and license/certification tracking
• Partner with Health & Safety and Operations teams so compliance training stays current and audit-ready
• Support operational change initiatives such as automation, NPI implementation and process improvements, and promote standardization across sites
• Plan learning resources, monitor completion, compliance, costs and performance metrics, and report on them
• Lead, coach and manage a team of trainers and L&D professionals, and foster an inclusive, safety-first learning culture
• Support new hire experience, cross-training plans, CAPA-related projects and other tasks assigned by the supervisor

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, industrial engineering or a related field
• Five to eight years of experience in L&D, training or capability roles in operational environments, with proven experience delivering technical, safety and compliance training
• Previous experience supervising personnel and three to five years in medical industries and devices
• Experience with FDA and TUV external audits, and internal auditor experience or exposure desirable
• Ability to read highly technical material such as drawings, SOPs and manuals

Required skills

• Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Project; intermediate video editing
• Knowledge of ISO 9000:2000, 21 CFR part 820 and ISO 13485:2012
• Strong communication skills in Spanish and English
• Train the Trainer certification required
