Software Engineer 2 – Azure Data Platform

About the role

Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer 2 to help build and operate the globally‑distributed Azure PostgreSQL service. The role focuses on delivering reliable, high‑performance cloud services that support mission‑critical workloads and enable AI‑driven data applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and ship software that improves reliability, scalability, performance, security, and efficiency of the Azure PostgreSQL cloud service.
• Fix, enhance, and support production services, including participation in on‑call rotations.
• Develop automation solutions for production environments.
• Collaborate with global teams to meet requirements for enterprise‑grade services.
• Participate in code reviews, bug triage, and influence design, architecture, and operational standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of software engineering experience.
• Professional experience coding in languages such as C or C++.
