Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

About the role

Databricks Information Technology is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to bridge software engineering and systems architecture. You will own the evolution of core infrastructure and observability platforms, delivering resilient, automated solutions that keep our cloud environment cost‑optimized, secure, and highly available.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage production‑grade infrastructure on AWS, Azure or GCP using IaC tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
• Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability to ensure maximum uptime and low latency for critical services.
• Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and manage both hosted and self‑hosted runners.
• Implement default observability (logging, metrics, alerts) for new internal applications using tools like Datadog, Prometheus or ELK.
• Develop internal AI plugins and automation scripts to streamline developer workflows.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, lead incident response, create dashboards, and conduct blameless post‑mortems.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Security, Engineering, and Support teams to deliver business outcomes.

Required profile

• 5+ years of production‑level software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Pulumi).
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Deep understanding of observability pillars and related tooling.
• Experience with distributed systems such as Kafka or other messaging queues.
• Advanced knowledge of GitHub Actions and GitHub Runners.
• Ability to work independently on ambiguous projects and drive them to completion.
