Senior Specialist – Clinical Data and AI

About the role

Smith+Nephew is seeking a Senior Specialist in Clinical Data and AI to apply data science and AI methods to real‑world clinical research challenges. The role will work within modern cloud and data‑lake environments to develop AI/ML solutions and analytical prototypes using rich clinical and operational datasets.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with clinical data scientists, biostatisticians, and operations experts to identify use cases for AI/ML solutions.
• Develop, test, and deploy AI/ML models supporting clinical operations and data analysis.
• Preprocess, clean, and organize clinical datasets for AI applications.
• Generate actionable insights from historical clinical research data.
• Integrate AI/ML tools into clinical research workflows and assess data quality.
• Research state‑of‑the‑art AI/ML techniques relevant to clinical research.
• Develop automation scripts or analytical utilities to streamline data analysis.
• Define performance indicators for models, evaluate their performance, and document methodologies.
• Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor’s, master’s or PhD in data science, computer science, engineering or a related field.
• Advanced English communication skills.
• Proficiency in Python.
