Senior Software Engineer – Legacy Platform Modernization

About the role

Harris is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to maintain, stabilize, and modernize a critical legacy platform built on Visual Basic 6, Classic ASP, and Oracle. You will work hands‑on with a mature, complex system while driving its evolution toward modern APIs, microservices, and cloud‑native front‑ends.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and stabilize the existing VB6/Classic ASP application.
• Analyze long‑standing business logic and identify performance, risk, and architectural issues.
• Design and implement modernization initiatives such as API layers, new microservices, and updated front‑ends.
• Work with Oracle databases, support existing packages, and prepare for migration to PostgreSQL.
• Collaborate with product, business, and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Use GitHub for version control, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
• Leverage Microsoft Azure services and AI‑assisted development tools to accelerate development and troubleshooting.

• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a focus on improving code quality and reliability.
