Senior Software Engineer – Edge Platform

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer you will own a critical piece of a high‑traffic web infrastructure that intercepts, processes and delivers billions of dollars of e‑commerce volume at the edge. You will work alongside a small, high‑caliber team and partner directly with the CTO and lead platform engineer to shape the future of the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and scale core platform infrastructure handling tens of thousands of requests per second at the CDN and edge layer.
• Lead architecture discussions, produce design documents and define long‑term technical road‑maps.
• Plan and execute methodical rollouts, set target audiences, KPIs and success metrics before shipping.
• Debug complex cross‑browser and cross‑device behavior caused by backend changes.
• Collaborate with data engineering to create observability, measurement frameworks and testability at scale.
• Mentor engineers and act as escalation point for challenging platform issues.
• Stay current with emerging web performance, edge computing and browser optimisation techniques.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of software engineering experience building and scaling high‑traffic, multi‑tenant web platforms.
• Proven technical leadership in architecture design and large‑scale system rollout.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to operate in ambiguous, high‑complexity environments.

Required skills

• TypeScript (primary language) and JavaScript.
• Python.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, GCP or Azure (cloud‑agnostic environment).
• CDN infrastructure and web performance tools: Cloudflare, Lighthouse, WebPageTest.
• Web optimisation techniques: web workers, lazy loading, code splitting.
• Infrastructure as Code: Pulumi or equivalent.
• SQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift and data‑warehouse querying.
• Message queues: SQS, Kinesis or equivalents.
• CI/CD pipeline experience.
