Senior Backend Engineer (Golang) - Remote

About the role

Kake is a remote-first company of senior engineers behind products ranging from Fortune 500 brands to fast-growing companies. It is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a high-scale product engineering team that builds and evolves critical platform services used by millions of users worldwide. You will design and develop high-performance backend systems that ensure reliability, scalability and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Golang.
• Develop and optimize distributed systems supporting high traffic volumes and mission-critical functionality.
• Architect and implement cloud-native solutions on AWS, and manage scalable data storage with MongoDB.
• Deploy, monitor and maintain production services on Kubernetes.
• Work with product, frontend, platform and infrastructure teams to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Improve observability, reliability and performance through monitoring, automation and optimization.
• Take part in architectural discussions and troubleshoot complex production issues.

Required profile

• Proven track record of delivering reliable systems in high-traffic, large-scale environments.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Nice to have: experience with recommendation systems, personalization engines or search infrastructure, and exposure to developer platforms and internal tooling.

Required skills

• Strong experience building high-performance, scalable backend systems in Golang.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices and backend scalability patterns.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB, including data modeling and performance optimization.
• Cloud-native application development on AWS and production Kubernetes experience.
