Packaging Engineer – Remote (Costa Rica)

About the role

The Packaging Engineer will lead the design, development, and lifecycle management of flexible sterile barrier systems for a global organization. Working remotely from Costa Rica, you will combine hands‑on laboratory expertise with direct customer interaction to drive product innovation, defect resolution, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide material selection guidance and develop packaging concepts and prototypes for CleanCut Card, pouch, and tray systems.
• Lead defect investigations, recommend corrective actions, and support ISO 11607 regulatory education.
• Operate and manage a packaging test laboratory, performing material characterization, analytical testing, and custom test method development.
• Analyze product performance data, identify trends, and propose process optimizations.
• Support customer complaints, CAPA investigations, and specification development across multiple production sites.
• Collaborate with sales, quality, R&D, marketing, and global sites to create technical marketing materials and training resources.

Required profile

• Experience in packaging engineering, preferably with sterile barrier systems.
• Strong laboratory management skills, including equipment calibration and ISO/ASTM compliance.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and interact effectively with cross‑functional teams.
