Manufacturing Engineer – Orthopedics (Costa Rica)

About the role

Johnson & Johnson's Orthopedics business is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to support its manufacturing of orthopedic implants used in knee, hip and shoulder joint arthroplasty. The role executes engineering deliverables for large-scale manufacturing capacity projects that deliver stable, reliable and cost-effective processes, covering project delivery and knowledge transfer to site staff. It works with existing functional organizations to standardize and implement best-in-class practices. The primary location is Costa Rica (Alajuela, Grecia), primarily on-site, on a 2nd-shift schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Support delivery of fully developed and qualified orthopaedic implant manufacturing processes to Network Edge projects.
• Ensure project activities follow QMS procedures and controls, and that product quality and performance meet specified standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to implement technical, validation and regulatory strategies efficiently and in compliance.
• Coordinate project plans with internal and external partners and document project and program activities.
• Support EHS&S policies and procedures and follow company health, safety and environmental guidelines.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Knowledge of medical device manufacturing and validation.
• Minimum 0-2 years of relevant professional experience.
• Ability to communicate in English and Spanish, internally and externally.
• Experience manufacturing high-precision machined products in a highly regulated environment.
• Experience with validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) and risk management documentation.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, teamwork, problem-solving and influence skills.
