Manufacturing Engineer II (Shift B)

About the role

The Manufacturing Engineer II (Shift B) will join Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) division in Alajuela, Costa Rica. You will be responsible for developing and implementing cost‑effective manufacturing processes that meet product specifications and quality standards, while supporting the lifecycle of production equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide daily support to manufacturing to achieve safety, quality, cost, and production targets.
• Maintain and monitor key performance indicators such as yield, non‑conforming material, and lead time, and drive corrective actions when trends are adverse.
• Prepare product and process reports using basic statistical tools.
• Perform installation and validation activities for new or existing production lines, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Select, purchase, and qualify equipment or fixtures to meet production needs, address obsolescence, or expand capacity.
• Investigate non‑conforming products, apply root‑cause problem‑solving techniques, and implement preventive controls.
• Coordinate equipment calibration, maintenance, and repair services according to manufacturer instructions.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and product specifications.
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend process improvements.
• Experience with equipment validation and lifecycle management.
• Proactive attitude toward safety, quality, and cost efficiency.
