Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take over a critical finance function following a retirement. The role safeguards the company’s finance "license to operate" and ensures full compliance with statutory, tax and reporting requirements in Costa Rica and Panama.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Costa Rica & Panama GAAP, IFRS, Free Trade Zone rules and all CAMCAR fiscal and VAT regulations.
• Maintain the integrity of books, act as primary contact for statutory, IAS and tax audits.
• Oversee month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closings, reconcile local GAAP with IFRS, and supervise fixed assets, provisions, accruals and tax entries.
• Manage corporate income tax, VAT, and transfer‑price filings; coordinate with external advisors such as Deloitte, EY and PwC.
• Collaborate with Shared Service Center (GFS) and Global Finance Services on transactional and reporting activities.
• Lead finance process standardisation, automation and digitalisation projects across the organisation.
• Serve as the local finance point of contact, coordinating auditors, tax advisors and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Strong expertise in Costa Rica & Panama GAAP, IFRS and CAMCAR tax/VAT legislation.
• Proven experience working with external auditors, advisory firms and international Shared Service Centers.
• Deep knowledge of statutory reporting, compliance requirements and risk‑management frameworks.
• Ability to drive process improvements and manage cross‑functional finance projects.
