Customs Specialist

About the role

The Customs Specialist ensures the swift release of packages held by regulatory agencies and acts as the primary liaison between FedEx, customers, and government bodies. You will manage documentation, coordinate with internal teams, and maintain compliance with local import/export laws.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate all customs‑related activities to expedite package release.
• Contact customers to resolve incomplete or incorrect international shipping documentation.
• Work with FedEx departments to correct duties, taxes, and other shipment information.
• Ensure FedEx complies with local export/import regulations and corporate policies.
• Audit broker invoices and track regulatory procedures to avoid penalties.
• Collaborate with the International Desk and FedEx contract broker to release shipments held by U.S. or local agencies.
• Maintain strong relationships with customers, brokers, and government agencies.

Required profile

• Associate degree or equivalent.
• At least four years of professional experience in international shipping or customs documentation.
• Strong knowledge of local import/export laws and regulations.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in English and computer literate.
