AWS FinOps Engineer III

About the role

World Fuel Services is looking for an experienced AWS FinOps Engineer III to lead cost optimisation, governance and financial management of its cloud platforms. The role sits at the intersection of cloud engineering, automation and finance, partnering with engineering, architecture, finance and procurement teams to drive transparent, cost‑effective cloud usage.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and implement AWS cost optimisation opportunities across compute, storage, networking, databases, containers and serverless services.
• Drive rightsizing, Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, storage lifecycle policies and data‑transfer optimisation.
• Build automation, tooling, dashboards and self‑service capabilities to improve FinOps effectiveness.
• Automate tagging compliance, utilisation analysis and anomaly investigation using Python, IaC and AWS APIs.
• Support AWS‑native cost management tools such as Apptio Cloudability.
• Review workloads and recommend improvements balancing cost, performance, resilience and security.
• Assist with cloud migrations, budgeting, forecasting and cost modelling.

Required profile

• Hands‑on technical experience with AWS and strong knowledge of cloud cost structures.
• Proven ability to automate processes and build data‑driven reporting.
• Analytical mindset with capacity to translate usage data into actionable recommendations.
• Effective collaboration with cross‑functional engineering, finance and business stakeholders.
