Accountant – Finance Division

About the role

Huntsman is looking for an Accountant to join its Finance Division in Costa Rica. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will support the financial accounting function for Huntsman Building Solutions, ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting under US GAAP.

Key responsibilities

• Support monthly close activities, including journal entries, variance analysis, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare and review monthly and quarterly journal entries such as accruals, inventory adjustments, FX revaluations, prepaid schedules, PPV, and overhead analysis.
• Perform inventory reconciliations, material costing, and related gain/loss postings.
• Assist with inventory audits and manage obsolete inventory reserves.
• Support financial statement reviews, actual‑versus‑budget analysis, and audit requirements (quarterly and annual).
• Maintain SOX compliance and internal control standards.
• Develop, automate, and improve accounting reports and processes.
• Provide analytical support to cross‑functional business partners and ensure timely completion of accounting deliverables.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in general ledger, financial reporting, or reconciliations.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and accounting principles.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
• Experience using Windows‑based applications.
