Missionary Mentor (Teacher)

About the role

The Missionary Mentor provides essential training and coaching to missionaries at various stages of their preparation and service. Working under the Training department, the mentor delivers instruction, feedback, and support through one‑on‑one coaching, small‑group facilitation, and larger workshops.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lessons and coaching sessions following the approved curriculum, coordinating with a companion teacher when needed.
• Monitor and guide missionaries’ participation in Canvas and discussion boards.
• Assist area and mission leadership in coordinating training activities and reporting progress.
• Coach missionaries in preparation for practice and live lessons, and may assess language proficiency of missionaries and teacher applicants.
• Participate in weekly training meetings, co‑teacher meetings, and temporary duties such as supporting the Mission Leadership Seminar.
• Act as a role‑player for non‑member scenarios and support training area assistance as hours allow.

Required profile

• Returned missionary with a strong testimony of the restored gospel.
• Fluency in the specified second language (for language‑teaching positions).
• Outstanding coaching, facilitation, and training abilities.
• Deep knowledge of the Preach My Gospel curriculum.
• Excellent interpersonal, prioritization, professionalism, and leadership skills.
• Self‑motivated, receptive to feedback, and able to work well with others.

Required skills

• Fluency in a second language (as required for language‑teaching roles).
