Senior Consultant, Data Science and Analytics

About the role

TransUnion is seeking a Senior Consultant to lead data‑science and analytics initiatives across its portfolio of financial‑services, insurance, fraud‑prevention and digital‑marketing solutions. The role combines advanced statistical modelling, machine‑learning development and high‑performance computing to deliver scalable analytic platforms for internal and client‑facing products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise state‑of‑the‑art analytic pipelines using C++ and Python.
• Implement advanced numerical algorithms and integrate machine‑learning frameworks such as XGBoost, LightGBM and H2O.
• Build and maintain big‑data solutions on Hadoop, Spark and Hive, including SQL optimisation and data‑flow orchestration.
• Collaborate with front‑end teams to expose analytics via Shiny, Streamlit, Dash or Tableau dashboards.
• Lead multiple complex projects, coordinate resources and ensure timely delivery in a fast‑paced environment.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (statistics, applied mathematics, computer science, etc.) with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s with 5 years.
• Proven track record as a data scientist with strong mathematical programming background.
• Experience in financial services, insurance, fraud detection or digital‑marketing domains is preferred.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced C++ programming (scientific computing).
• Python (machine‑learning libraries) and R.
• SQL and big‑data platforms: Hadoop, Spark, Hive; knowledge of Apache Arrow.
• Machine‑learning frameworks: XGBoost, LightGBM, H2O.
• HPC job schedulers: Slurm, Univa, SGE, Torque.
• Dashboarding tools: Shiny, Streamlit, Dash, Tableau.
