Payroll Accountant

About the role

The Payroll Accountant joins a lean payroll accounting team responsible for the full financial accuracy and lifecycle of payroll operations. Working in a high‑demand environment, the role handles tasks typically spread across three team members.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end payroll accounting for semi‑monthly, bi‑weekly and off‑cycle runs, including simulations, GL postings, funding and banking settlements.
• Perform payroll reconciliations and financial controls such as 3‑way match, BAI2 bank reconciliations, suspense account reviews and month‑end close activities.
• Execute and reconcile third‑party vendor payments, payroll reversals, stop payments and physical check processing.
• Oversee unclaimed property (escheatment) processes, including due‑diligence, coordination with internal teams and system updates.
• Support payroll systems and controls through Workday regression testing, change requests, new pay components and tax jurisdiction updates.
• Partner with Finance and cross‑functional teams to resolve discrepancies, support audits, acquisitions and ad‑hoc projects.
• Maintain payroll accounting schedules, documentation and compliance requirements.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in end‑to‑end payroll accounting for the US or Canada.
• Hands‑on experience with general ledger postings and payroll processing cycles.
• Strong analytical ability to perform reconciliations, controls and audit support.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑demand environment.

• Workday payroll system (regression testing and change management).
