Outdoor Expedition Leader – Project Coordinator

About the role

The Outdoor Expedition Leader – Project Coordinator will live on‑site in Costa Rica for an 11‑week seasonal program, guiding a group of international venturers through community and environmental projects. You will ensure safety, facilitate personal growth, and act as the primary liaison between the group and the field base.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor and guide a group of young people alongside a counterpart Project Coordinator.
• Delegate responsibilities and foster leadership among venturers.
• Lead on‑site logistics, including safety, project delivery and incident management.
• Serve as the key point of contact for the Operations team and Field Base.
• Facilitate personal development sessions, team‑building activities and energisers.
• Collaborate with project partners, community leaders and foremen to meet project targets.

Required profile

• Minimum age of 25 years.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (spoken and written).
• At least 1 year of experience in service learning, tourism, outdoor leadership, youth mentorship or experiential education.
• Minimum 1 year working with adolescents or young adults.
• At least 6 months living or working in an international or multicultural environment.
• Current Basic First Aid certification obtained through in‑person training.
• Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or WEMT certification is a plus.
• Good physical fitness with experience trekking or hiking long distances.
• Positive attitude and ability to lead by example under pressure.
