Metadata Management Consultant

About the role

We are seeking a Metadata Management Consultant to advance our enterprise data governance program. You will work within the DEA team to improve the Alation data catalog and Snowflake‑based ecosystem, making data definitions, discovery, and usage more consistent and reliable across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Drive domain curation and ensure metadata quality for assigned business domains.
• Configure catalog assets such as term hierarchies, classifications, and policies to improve usability.
• Create and deliver steward training, SOPs, and playbooks to scale governance adoption.
• Identify automation opportunities and work with an engineering team to implement no‑code solutions for bulk onboarding, lineage harvesting, and quality checks.
• Collaborate with data owners, stewards, analysts, engineers, and product teams to translate business language into searchable, reusable metadata.
• Track curation metrics, guide backlog grooming, and support occasional global‑hour collaboration or minimal travel.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, Business Administration or related field with at least 3 years of relevant technical experience, OR 8 years of experience without a degree.
• Proven experience in data governance, metadata management, data catalog tools, or data quality disciplines.
• Exposure to automation concepts and basic scripting/SQL, preferably through partnership with Data Engineering teams.
