Manufacturing Engineer – Automation & Tooling

About the role

The Manufacturing Engineer will design and develop automation, manual tooling, and fixtures for Samtec’s production lines. Working on‑site Monday‑Friday, you will translate internal customer needs into robust mechanical solutions and guide them from concept through full production integration.

Key responsibilities

• Scope, design, and implement mechanical tools, fixtures and automation projects using SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Create detailed 3‑D models and drawings that reflect fabrication methods and safety standards.
• Monitor project budgets, develop test plans, and use statistical analysis to validate tool performance.
• Support manufacturing quality by updating tools, establishing preventive‑maintenance schedules, and managing spare‑part inventories.
• Maintain internal tooling databases, track project timelines with project‑tracking software, and communicate progress to global teams.
• Ensure all designs comply with OSHA, ANSI, and Samtec safety regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years experience as a Manufacturing Engineer in a production environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (B2+).
• Proven ability to work independently and within cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (3‑D modeling) – 3+ years.
• AutoCAD – experience preferred.
• MS Office Suite.
• Minitab for statistical analysis.
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Project and task management tools.
• Knowledge of OSHA and ANSI safety standards.
