M365 Platform Engineer

About the role

The Microsoft 365 Platform Engineer will design, configure, and continuously improve the enterprise M365 environment, ensuring it aligns with governance and architectural standards. This role focuses on platform engineering rather than end‑user support, working within a globally governed model as part of a dedicated M365 product team.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain Microsoft 365 configurations according to agreed standards and governance policies.
• Support release, change, and lifecycle management for all M365 services.
• Automate repetitive platform tasks and standardize processes to reduce recurring issues.
• Apply and enforce governance policies such as retention, permissions, and lifecycle management.
• Document standards, patterns, and operational runbooks; assist with audits and reviews.
• Drive migration from legacy collaboration tools and file shares, and remediate technical debt.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Security, IAM, and regional IT teams, providing engineering input to design and roadmap discussions.
• Act as a technical escalation point for complex M365 platform problems.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365 in a large, governed enterprise tenant.
• Ability to work from standards and architectural direction rather than ad‑hoc configuration.
• Automation mindset with experience in scripting and workflow automation.
• Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams such as Architecture, Security, and IAM.
