Graduate Substation Electrical Engineer

About the role

Ulteig is seeking a Graduate Substation Electrical Engineer to join its Substation Department. This entry‑level position offers a hybrid work environment that combines office collaboration with hands‑on engineering tasks, providing a solid foundation for a career in power systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design, development, and implementation of substation engineering systems.
• Create physical substation layouts, sections, elevations, conduit and grounding plans, schematics, wiring diagrams, and material lists.
• Perform design calculations, develop technical sketches, and conduct technical comparisons.
• Support special projects, collaborate with colleagues, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Prepare reports, correspondence, and documentation for assigned projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or ability to obtain it within one year of hire.
• Engineering internship experience preferred.
• Coursework in electrical power systems preferred.
• Legal authorization to work in Costa Rica.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
• Knowledge of electrical power systems and substation design principles.
• Ability to perform design calculations and produce technical drawings.
