Fullstack PHP Developer (Magento 2 + WordPress) – Remote (Latin America)

About the role

Bluelight is looking for a versatile Full Stack PHP Developer to take technical ownership of client digital ecosystems. The role focuses on maintaining and evolving Magento 2 e‑commerce platforms while integrating and managing WordPress sites, all in a fully remote setting for candidates in Latin America.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure stability and performance of existing Magento 2 instances.
• Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress themes and plugins.
• Audit, refactor, and document legacy codebases to reduce technical debt.
• Implement deployments and manage staging‑to‑production workflows.
• Integrate Magento and WordPress with external ERP, CRM, and marketing tools via REST/GraphQL APIs.
• Optimize database queries and caching layers (MySQL, Redis, Varnish, Elasticsearch).
• Maintain Linux‑based server environments (Nginx/Apache) and enforce security best practices.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with Magento 2.x architecture and WordPress development.
• Proven ability to work with legacy code and document inherited systems.
• Strong knowledge of PHP 8, OOP, Composer, and PSR standards.
• Experience with MySQL performance tuning and caching technologies.
• Familiarity with frontend stacks including HTML5, CSS (SASS/LESS), JavaScript, Knockout.js, and RequireJS.
• Comfort with Git version control and Linux server administration.
• Security‑first mindset, including PCI compliance and platform hardening.
