Trade and Customs Specialist

About the role

CooperSurgical, a leading fertility and women’s healthcare company, is seeking a Trade and Customs Specialist to support its Global Trade Compliance Lead in Costa Rica. This position offers hands‑on experience in customs documentation, free‑trade‑zone operations, and international shipment monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day operational support to the Global Trade Compliance Lead.
• Prepare, review, and ensure completeness of documentation for Free Trade Zone entries and import processes, including invoice translations, forms, and airway bill endorsements.
• Coordinate export documentation, including explanatory notes and supporting materials for third‑country imports.
• Monitor shipments and maintain real‑time control of inbound and outbound goods.
• Support maintenance and compliance of the Free Trade Zone Operations Control Book.
• Assist in internal and external audits by gathering and organizing relevant documentation.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.

Required profile

• Intermediate to advanced university student (second year onward) pursuing a degree in Customs Administration, International Trade, or Law.
• Minimum two years of experience in customs, international trade, or related support roles.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Willingness to learn and develop expertise in customs, foreign trade, and free‑trade‑zone processes.
