Systems/Software Engineer

About the role

The Systems/Software Engineer role is based onsite at HPE's Heredia office. You will design, develop, and troubleshoot software for a range of products, including operating systems, compilers, networking tools, and distributed storage solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement enhancements, updates, and new features for system software components such as OS, compilers, networking utilities, databases, and Internet tools.
• Lead project teams of software engineers and external partners to deliver reliable, cost‑effective solutions.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, debug code, and ensure seamless integration into overall product architecture.
• Collaborate with management and development partners to communicate design status, progress, and issue resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 4‑6 years of relevant experience in software systems engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of SAS and NVMe protocols.
• Extensive experience with embedded system design and implementation.
• Experience designing and developing distributed storage systems.
• Proficiency with multiple software design tools and programming languages.
• Solid understanding of software testing methodologies, including test plan creation and debugging.
