Supplier Quality Engineer III

About the role

Abbott Vascular, part of Abbott, works out of its Alajuela location in Costa Rica and provides minimally invasive, cost-effective products for the treatment of vascular disease. As Supplier Quality Engineer III, you will drive improvement in the quality of components and services sourced from external suppliers, provide technical support in supplier selection and evaluation, monitor supplier performance and supervise the functional area as required.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable corporate and divisional policies and procedures.
• Assess potential new suppliers for technical, quality and manufacturing capabilities, and provide technical support for introducing components from new suppliers.
• Evaluate, monitor and approve new and existing external suppliers based on qualifications and performance, acting as their spokesperson.
• Analyze incoming material defects, communicate issues to suppliers and investigate failures related to supplier materials.
• Drive and track corrective and preventive action plans.
• Generate test protocols, monitor testing, issue material qualification test reports and approve components for use.
• Assist in generating component specifications, generate and maintain incoming inspection procedures, and train inspectors.
• Mentor employees and, as required, supervise technical personnel.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or an equivalent field of study.
• Two years of experience in an engineering-related position.
• Intermediate command of English.
