Senior Software Engineer, Cyber Range

About the role

SimSpace is looking for a senior software engineer to drive the design and implementation of high‑fidelity cyber‑range simulations. You will create custom tooling, AI‑driven traffic generators, and core services that enable realistic attack and defense scenarios.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build bespoke AI‑integrated tools and scripts that generate realistic traffic for SaaS, cloud platforms, and enterprise endpoints.
• Develop, maintain, and scale core microservices for cyber‑range simulation, ensuring performance, fault tolerance, and observability.
• Lead technical projects, mentor engineers, and enforce best coding and architectural practices.
• Create emulated cloud services, synthetic data pipelines, and infrastructure‑as‑code resources for both attacker and defender environments.

Required profile

• 6+ years of software development experience building large‑scale, distributed systems.
• Strong background in containerization, orchestration (Kubernetes/Docker) and infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet).
• Experience working in air‑gapped or highly secure environments and understanding of virtual networking (VPCs, subnets, segmentation).
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects, mentor teammates, and collaborate across product, UX, and content teams.

Required skills

• Programming languages: Python, Java, Kotlin, Golang.
• Frameworks/platforms: Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Docker, VMware.
• API design and security protocols: HTTP/S, REST, OAuth, SAML.
• AI/LLM integration and API usage.
• Infrastructure‑as‑code tools: Terraform, Ansible, Puppet.
• Version control: Git.
