Senior Molding Engineer

About the role

Theragenics is seeking a Senior Molding Engineer to lead the development, monitoring, and optimization of injection molding processes for its medical device products. The role collaborates across departments to ensure successful qualification activities and maintains continuous production performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop robust, repeatable molding processes using scientific molding techniques.
• Propose and implement modifications to molds, equipment, and processes to increase productivity and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot molding, manufacturing, and material issues, working with internal and external resources to deliver long‑term solutions.
• Research, develop, and apply process controls, machinery modifications, and improvements.
• Create and update molding work instructions to standardize production.
• Provide technical assistance on the production floor, performing root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Evaluate tooling wear, apply SMED techniques to reduce mold change times, and monitor rejects to optimize yield.
• Maintain tooling inventory and generate improvement proposals based on daily data analysis.
• Mentor and train molding technicians, engineers, and operators, and coordinate with equipment maintenance teams.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in injection molding process development and optimization within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to lead troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of scientific molding techniques and SMED methodology.
• Experience mentoring technical staff and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
