Science Teacher (Bilingual) – Middle & Secondary

About the role

Ballena Academy is seeking an experienced bilingual Science Teacher to join its middle and secondary school team in Costa Ballena, Costa Rica. The role involves delivering engaging Physics, Biology, and Chemistry lessons while fostering scientific curiosity and critical thinking.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Physics, Biology, and Chemistry to middle and secondary students.
• Plan and deliver lessons that promote problem‑solving and active participation.
• Develop assessments and classroom activities aligned with curriculum objectives.
• Support students of diverse academic abilities and language backgrounds.
• Maintain a respectful, organized, and academically focused classroom environment.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
• Collaborate on interdisciplinary projects, school events, and curriculum planning.
• Participate in the ongoing development of the school’s academic program.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years teaching experience at middle or secondary level.
• Experience teaching Physics, Biology, and Chemistry.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
• Experience in bilingual or international schools.
• Familiarity with inquiry‑based or project‑based learning.
• Knowledge of MYP, IB, Cambridge, or similar frameworks.
• Confidence integrating technology into teaching and assessment.
