R&D Manager – Sustaining (Endoscopy)

About the role

Join Boston Scientific’s Endoscopy Sustaining R&D team and lead a group of engineers dedicated to protecting product quality, compliance and business continuity for a portfolio of commercial medical devices. The manager will guide the team through project prioritisation, technical decision‑making and talent development while ensuring Endoscopy technologies meet the needs of patients, physicians and the business throughout their lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and approve strategies for sustaining R&D projects.
• Identify and drive value‑improvement and complaint‑reduction initiatives.
• Mentor staff, support career development and recruit high‑performing engineers.
• Develop and monitor budgets, resource plans and staffing levels.
• Collaborate with project managers to align priorities and allocate resources.
• Maintain and strengthen cross‑functional relationships to resolve technical issues.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead and build trust with direct reports.
• Strong cross‑functional decision‑making and influencing skills.
• Experience managing a portfolio of sustaining engineering projects.
• Demonstrated talent for hiring, developing and motivating technical staff.
