Quality Systems & Compliance Engineer I

About the role

The Quality Systems & Compliance Engineer I will support quality system activities, ensuring compliance with FDA, ISO, MDD, CDR, Japan and other regulatory requirements for Abbott’s Electrophysiology division in Alajuela, Costa Rica.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain employee learning maps aligned with current QMS documents.
• Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) audience structure for Value Streams and support areas.
• Oversee training planning, execution and documentation for exempt employees.
• Support internal compliance audits and coordinate external audit/inspection preparation.
• Facilitate follow‑up and closure of audit non‑conformances.
• Provide support to the Quality Systems team in maintaining QMS elements and contribute to Management Review inputs.
• Communicate overall compliance status to management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field, or 90% of the curriculum with current studies and 2 years of quality or training experience.
• 0‑2 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QSRs, ISO 13485 or ISO 9001).
• Intermediate command of English.
• Shift admin schedule: Monday‑Friday 8:00 am‑5:00 pm, 100 % onsite.
