Python Back End Engineer – Remote (Costa Rica)

About the role

Ascendion is looking for a skilled Python Back End Engineer to join its remote team in Costa Rica. You will build and maintain integrations with third‑party SSP and advertising platforms, helping Fortune‑500 clients accelerate their digital transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain REST/HTTP and GraphQL APIs.
• Handle authentication, authorization, pagination, rate limits, retries, and API error handling.
• Translate external platform models into consistent internal workflows.
• Write clean, testable Python services and troubleshoot production issues.
• Implement logging, monitoring, debugging, and automated testing.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Create technical documentation for integrations and key implementation decisions.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience with Python.
• Hands‑on experience designing and integrating REST/HTTP APIs.
• Experience consuming or developing GraphQL APIs.
• Solid knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience developing and operating applications in AWS.
• Deep understanding of API authentication and authorization.
• Proficiency with error handling, retry strategies, automated testing, logging, monitoring, and production debugging.
• Familiarity with maintainable software architecture and design patterns.
