Program Manager

About the role

Freudenberg Medical is seeking a Program Manager to lead cross‑functional teams in the development and manufacturing of medical devices and pharmaceutical solutions. The role is based on‑site in Alajuela and will coordinate internal resources, external vendors, and strategic partners throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Direct cross‑functional internal teams, external vendors, suppliers, and strategic partners; assess resource needs, utilization, and development.
• Drive all phases of the product development cycle, from feasibility and concept through validation, production transfer, and sustaining manufacturing.
• Develop and monitor project budgets, internal billing, and transfer cost of goods sold; communicate financial variances and negotiate adjustments.
• Maintain alignment with clinicians, customers, internal teams, and key stakeholders through regular updates, issue resolution, and structured communications.
• Identify constraints and risks, maintain credible schedules using CCPM/PCE practices, and communicate timeline updates and mitigation strategies.
• Measure, report, and improve program KPIs; demonstrate cost reduction through process optimization.
• Develop and maintain compliant design and process documentation; oversee test and measurement fixture identification.
• Mentor engineering staff and foster a high‑performing, collaborative project culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading program or project teams in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Strong ability to coordinate internal and external stakeholders and manage resource allocation.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with clinicians, customers, and senior management.
• Knowledge of CCPM/PCE scheduling practices and risk management.
• Experience with budget development, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
