Payroll Tax Analyst – Customer Service

About the role

The Analyst, Customer Service (US Payroll/Tax) ensures accuracy and quality in Baxter's payroll tax function. You will manage tax setup, withholding, reporting and reconciliation across federal, state and local jurisdictions, supporting employees in multiple states and Puerto Rico.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with payroll tax inquiries via phone, chat, email or tickets.
• Support employees across multiple US states, local jurisdictions and Puerto Rico.
• Set up and maintain employee tax profiles for all applicable withholding requirements.
• Review payroll data to confirm accurate tax withholdings, taxable wages and employer liabilities before payroll finalization.
• Prepare, review and submit payroll tax payments, returns and filings on monthly, quarterly and annual schedules.
• Reconcile payroll tax reports, wage records, general ledger data and third‑party provider reports.
• Research and resolve payroll tax notices, agency inquiries and employee tax questions under senior mentorship.
• Maintain accurate tax records, documentation, filing confirmations and audit support materials.
• Track updates in federal, state and local payroll tax regulations and adjust procedures accordingly.
• Partner with Payroll, HR, Finance, Accounting and external tax vendors to ensure compliant, timely payroll operations.
• Assist with year‑end activities such as W‑2 review and jurisdictional reporting support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, human resources or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum 2 years experience in payroll, tax, accounting, finance or HR operations.
• Strong focus on detail and ability to examine data for accuracy.
• Ability to handle confidential employee and payroll information with discretion.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Experience using payroll HRIS or tax filing systems.
• Basic understanding of US federal, state and local payroll tax regulations.
