Network Support Engineer (Dispatch) - CRC

About the role

Brilliant Computers is looking for a Network Support Engineer to provide support for its network infrastructure, ensuring reliability, performance and availability of network services. The role involves troubleshooting network issues, maintaining network equipment and supporting day-to-day network operations. It is offered as a freelance position.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first and second-level support for network incidents and service requests.
• Troubleshoot issues related to IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VLANs and network routing.
• Configure and support routers, switches, firewalls and wireless access points.
• Monitor network performance and respond to alerts or outages.
• Maintain ticket updates and documentation for all reported incidents.
• Work with internal IT teams to resolve complex issues.
• Assist with network maintenance, upgrades and implementation projects.
• Ensure timely communication on issue status and resolution.

Required profile

• 2-5 years of experience in network support or a similar role.
• Experience with Cisco or similar networking equipment.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools and ticketing systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Certifications such as CCNA or CompTIA Network+ are an advantage.
• A basic understanding of Windows server environments and Active Directory is an advantage.

Required skills

• Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS and DHCP.
• Pre-requisites: a laptop running a Microsoft operating system (minimum Windows 11), a console cable, a terminal emulator (e.g. PuTTY, TeraTerm, Poderosa), a serial port, Teams or Webex for customer network connections, an engineering tool kit, and OEM-specific training and certification where applicable.
