ML Data Operations Manager – Team Lead

About the role

We are looking for a Team Manager with experience driving process improvements and operational excellence to lead operations at our San José site. You will lead a team of 20+ Machine Learning Data Associates who deliver high‑quality labeled data that trains Amazon’s AI models.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of 20+ ML Data Associates, handling scheduling, attendance, and leave approvals.
• Deliver on Service Level Agreements and task completion targets for specific customers and workflows.
• Ensure ML data workflows are quality‑compliant and analyze productivity, efficiency, and ticket metrics.
• Identify risks, manage escalations, and coordinate with Program Management and global operations leads.
• Provide structured feedback through regular 1:1s, performance conversations, and development guidance.
• Implement process improvements using Kaizen, Six Sigma, or Lean methodologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 12+ months of people‑leadership experience managing teams of 20+ direct reports.
• Advanced proficiency in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
• Experience measuring performance metrics and handling operational escalations.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and logical reasoning skills.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Data analysis and reporting from multiple databases.
• Process‑improvement methodologies such as Kaizen, Six Sigma, Lean.
• Familiarity with AI data annotation workflows and quality‑assurance processes.
