Microbiology Technician IV

About the role

The Microbiology Technician IV supports the Structural Heart Division’s microbiology laboratory in Costa Rica. Working under minimal supervision, the technician coordinates daily lab activities, manages inventory, and ensures equipment and method qualifications are up to date.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the microbiology laboratory supervisor in setting goals and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate weekly tasks for laboratory technicians and prioritize work based on business needs.
• Maintain and track laboratory inventory, generate purchase orders, and collect raw‑material samples as required.
• Perform equipment qualifications, write protocols and reports, and oversee steam‑sterilization and calibration activities.
• Support laboratory investigations such as out‑of‑specification (OOS) and growth‑inhibition (GI) studies.
• Provide training to junior technicians on microbiological test methods.

Required profile

• Experience working in a regulated microbiology laboratory.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational skills for managing inventory and scheduling.
• Attention to detail in documentation and qualification activities.
