Metrology Calibration Technician

About the role

The Metrology Calibration Technician works under the direction of the QA Supervisor to perform precise measurements and calibrations on mechanical equipment across the company. The role ensures accurate calibration documentation and supports quality improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform internal calibrations using high‑precision measurement instruments on machined and mechanical gauges.
• Enter calibration activities into the Calibration Manager system, maintaining equipment records and history.
• Maintain an organized calibration laboratory and accurate filing system for calibration records.
• Provide calibration reports to supervisors, managers, and other departments as needed.
• Assist with specialized training, accreditation requirements, and quality improvement efforts.
• Follow safety and environmental policies in accordance with regulations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED plus 3‑5 years experience as a Quality Technician or Calibration Technician in an FDA‑regulated or high‑tech manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read standard operating procedures, engineering drawings, and apply GD&T.
• Experience in a QA/QC or machine‑shop setting preferred.

Required skills

• Use of measuring devices such as micrometer, caliper, comparator, thread gauges, go/no‑go gauges, and custom gauges.
• Operation of test instruments like pull and torque testers.
• Familiarity with programmable inspection machines, vision systems, and CMM.
• Experience with Calibration Manager software or similar asset management systems.
• Knowledge of ANSI/NCSL Z540‑01 and ISO/IEC17025 standards is a plus.
