Maintenance Technician II - Vascular Division

About the role

Abbott is hiring a Maintenance Technician II for its Vascular Division, based at the Zona Franca Coyol Alajuela location (Building B31). The technician provides technical support to equipment used in manufacturing and supporting areas by repairing and maintaining it, using technical manuals, schematic drawings, precision tools and test equipment to meet maintenance and production goals. This is an on-site position.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with corporate, divisional and site policies and procedures.
• Document equipment repairs, moves and preventive maintenance, including parts and instruments used, in the Maximo system.
• Record all work performed in Maximo with the correct work order and justify working hours.
• Maintain backup and spare equipment to meet operational needs.
• Keep maintenance areas, the maintenance lab, mezzanine and workstations clean and organized.
• Respond to equipment complaints and work orders (OM, PM and other types) and correct them.

Required profile

• Technical degree in electronics, electrical, maintenance or mechanical engineering.
• 3 years of experience; internal candidates need 1 year of experience within the company.
• Experience in equipment troubleshooting, improvement identification and implementation, and in equipment design or maintenance roles is required; experience in medical device companies is preferred.
• Low to medium complexity decision making, ownership and problem-solving skills; minimum supervision needed.

Required skills

• Able to read and interpret basic technical manuals, schematic and electrical drawings and use precision tools and test equipment.
• Preferred: high equipment technical knowledge, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) at low to intermediate level.
• Preferred: Lean and Six Sigma (yellow or green belt), TPM, preventive and predictive maintenance, root cause analysis, maintenance metrics (availability, MTBF, MTBR), PLC knowledge, and CAB/CAD (including AutoCAD).

Shift and conditions

• Shift C: Sunday to Saturday, 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
• On-site position.
