Machinist I

About the role

Medtronic is seeking an entry‑level Machinist I to set up and operate a variety of machine tools in a manufacturing environment, supporting production of precision medical components.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers and precision grinders to produce metal parts to exact tolerances.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches and engineering specifications to determine machining operations, cuts, and setup.
• Use hand tools and precision measuring instruments, perform calculations for dimensions, feeds and speeds.
• Fit and assemble precision parts, modify NC programs, and monitor quality according to statistical process controls.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (Bachillerato en educación media).
• Technical training in precision mechanics.
• No prior experience required; entry‑level position.

Required skills

• Operation of machine tools (lathe, mill, grinder).
• Interpretation of technical drawings.
• Use of precision measuring instruments.
• Basic knowledge of numerically controlled (NC) machines.
