Learning Support Specialist – Middle & High School

About the role

The Learning Support Specialist is a key instructional and inclusion leader for middle and high school students with mild to moderate exceptionalities. This position blends direct student support with strategic leadership to advance a fully inclusive education model at Country Day School.

Key responsibilities

• Advance inclusive practices using Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Response to Intervention (RTI) and differentiated instruction.
• Provide direct support to students and design individualized learning plans.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, families and external providers.
• Serve on Student Learning Profile (SLP) teams and coordinate transitions between school divisions.
• Lead professional‑learning sessions and build sustainable systems and protocols.
• Collect and analyze data to inform decision‑making and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education, Learning Support, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certificate/license.
• Minimum two years of experience supporting middle and/or high school students with mild to moderate exceptionalities.
• Proven experience advancing inclusive practices (UDL, MTSS, RTI, differentiated instruction).
• Experience providing direct student support and participating in SLP teams and transition planning.
• Strong collaboration skills working with teachers, counselors, administrators and families.
