Lead Software Architect – Regulated Cross‑Border Payments

About the role
Obsidiam is looking for a Lead Software Architect to define and build the technical foundation of a regulated cross‑border payments platform targeting Latin America. You will translate the product vision into a secure, compliant architecture and guide the engineering team from concept to production.
Key responsibilities
- Convert business and product goals into a clear technical blueprint.
- Design a multi‑jurisdiction, regulated payments system covering custody, liquidity, banking and local payment rails, FX, API layer and reconciliation.
- Make build‑vs‑buy decisions across the stack and set engineering standards, CI/CD pipelines and road‑maps.
- Architect compliance and security controls (AML, key management, transaction integrity) from day one.
- Define team composition, estimate headcount and required specialties.
- Identify and mitigate technical and security risks before capital commitments.
Required profile
- Senior or principal‑level experience as a software architect or staff‑engineer, preferably with 0→1 product builds.
- Deep hands‑on expertise in AI, machine learning, operations research and optimization.
- Strong background in payments, fintech or digital‑asset infrastructure (stablecoin, treasury, cross‑border FX).
- Extensive experience with distributed systems, event‑driven and cloud‑native architectures (Kubernetes, GitOps).
- Security‑first mindset and proven ability to design for regulated environments.
- Experience with wallet/custody, liquidity/trading integrations, banking‑as‑a‑service or local payment rails.
- Knowledge of the Latin American market; excellent English, Spanish or Portuguese a plus.
